The following images are a collection of my perception of the life and stories of the Allentown Fair. In order to capture these images, it required me to first start a dialog with my subjects, and then after gaining their trust, I would take the picture. This requires one to step out of there comfort zone and try to become a small part of the “culture”. All of the images were shot handheld with the Olympus PEN-F and in many cases the exposures were in excess of a half of a second. I was only able to accomplish this because of the Olympus built in image stabilization system. One additional bonus from this shoot, is that it happened to be the day KISS performed, which provided some additional characters for the evening.
Love these colorful images Frank! And fun!
Thanks Cindy!
Great pictures and fun to look at. And all these photos were really shot handheld? Can you please share the technical data (aperture, shutter, ISO) of some of the images, e.g. 20160901-_9010823? Thanks. Which lens did you use on the PEN-F?
Romano, Thanks. Regarding your questions, the bulk were shot using the 7-14mm f2.8 PRO and a few with the 17mm f1.8. Where there was no movement, I generally shoot wide open and where there was movement they averaged between 0.5 to 2.0 seconds with apertures between f3.6 & f16.
Thank you for your response, Frank. Hard to believe you could handheld 2.0 seconds. I even would have a hard time holding a shot with 0.5 seconds without using a tripod. But I must admit, my E-M10 only has a 3-axis-stabilisation.
