Birds, Birds & More Birds: Join Me in Florida This March šŸ¦

I’m excited to share a special photography experience I’ll be co-leading next spring—one that’s all about birds, behavior, and being fully immersed in the field.

Birds, Birds & More Birds Photography Retreat

šŸ“ Florida
šŸ—“ March 8–12, 2026

March in Florida is one of the most electrifying times of year for bird photography. It’s peak breeding and courtship season, when colonies erupt with color, movement, ritual displays, and new life. Feathers flare, mates dance, chicks hatch—and the opportunities for meaningful, dynamic images are everywhere.

I’ll be joined by fellow OM SYSTEM Ambassadors Steve Morello, Lisa Cuchara, and Tom Cuchara for this immersive retreat designed to inspire, challenge, and elevate your photography—regardless of where you are on your creative journey.

This experience blends:

  • Thoughtful fieldcraft
  • Creative vision and storytelling
  • Modern camera techniques and computational tools
  • And most importantly,Ā time in nature with mentors who genuinely care about your growth

Whether you’re hoping to capture dramatic birds-in-flight, intimate moments between parents and chicks, or the subtle beauty of courtship behavior, we’ll guide you every step of the way.

What to expect:

  • 🟣 8 carefully chosen shooting locations
  • 🟣 2 hotels
  • 🟣 4 experienced ambassadors
  • 🟣 All skill levels welcome
  • 🟣 Any camera system welcome

Like all OM SYSTEM Retreats, this is about more than settings—it’s about creativity, community, and learning to see more deeply.

Graffiti Warehouse

On New Year’s Eve day my nephew, Matt (a new Olympus shooter) turned me on to a place he had visited several times that includes some amazing artistic graffiti. It is an abandoned warehouse that skateboarders frequent. Here are a few shots from the day.

Hidden Gems of New Hope

This past weekend I was in New Hope, PA. In the early days of our country, this was a mid-point between New York & Philly and of course, George Washington was supposed to have lodged here. Today, it is a vibrant eclectic arts community. There are visual treasures at every turn. However, you need to keep an open eye to catch many of them.

Belly of the Beast (post 3 of 3)

This is the final post of the images from the former Bethlehem Steel plant. This post will consist of images of rust or the oxidation process. It is amazing to see the various forms of art when you just look at small segments of this massive complex.

Seattle (Post 4 of 4) EMP Museum

This is the final in a series of 4 posts that I started on Monday. As part of my visit to Seattle, I wanted to make an effort to stop by the EMP Museum (Experience Music Project). The building was designed by Frank O. Gehry. He was influenced by the electric guitar and that was the basis for the fundamental design of the building.Ā EMP’s exterior conveys all the energy and fluidity of music. I spent a couple days here and could have easily spent a couple more. One of the interesting aspects of photographing here is the building changes as the sunlight moves.

Seattle (Post 3 of 4) Chihuly Garden & Glass

This is the 3rd in a series of 4 posts that I started on Monday. During my visit to Seattle, I took some extra time to visit and explore the Chihuly Garden and Glass facility located next to the Space Needle. I love all types of glass artwork. This place is the pinnacle of some of the most absolutely amazing glass art I have ever seen. If you are ever in the Seattle area it is an absolute “must see”.
