Fire Water

Since it’s raining this morning, I though I would post these shots from last week. What do you get when you mix water droplets, a glass top table and colorful reflections – Fire Water. Because it was raining, I shot all of the images with the Olympus TG-3.

The Great Allentown Fair in Black & White

I made my annual trek to the Allentown Fair again a couple of weeks ago. I decided I would do two posts. One in B&W and one in color. Here is the B&W.

Jazz Cabaret – Hot Bijouxx

On Friday night, August 15th I was once again given the pleasureΒ of capturing the evening through photography at the Jazz Upstairs. Hot Bijouxx performed an energetic mΓ©lange of Prohibition-era jazz, brilliantly combining story telling with the music. The 4 piece jazz band was complimented by the vocals of Najwa Parkins. Another great night of great jazz on the 3rd floor of Miller Symphony.

Troxell-Steckel House

I visited the Troxell-Steckel house located in Whitehall Township, PA. It is a 2 1/2 story house and farm built in 1756. The house and property is now owned by the Lehigh County Historical Society.

Lehigh Valley Air Show

Lehigh Valley International Airport put on this show last year and it was a huge success. They did it again this year and it was equally as good, if not slightly better. It took place last weekend and Sunday was the prettier day. However, I thought Saturday made for a more dynamic photographic opportunity, which is the day I shot.

Jazz Cabaret – Eric Mintel Quartet

Last month’s Jazz Cabaret was another sellout. The Eric Mintel Quartet mastered the balance of the acoustics in MillerΒ Symphony’s Hall’s Rodale Room on Friday July 18th. I had the pleasureΒ ofΒ photographing the Quartet while they played songs from Coldplay, Sting,Β Aerosmith and others as well as many of their own originals. TheirΒ performance was enticing and audience engaging.

Fonthill & Moravian Tile Works

As part of my Doylestown trip, I also visited Fonthill Castle & the Moravian Tile Works. Fonthill was constructed in the early 1900’s and was the home of Henry Mercer. In addition to his home, he built FonthillΒ as a showcase for his collections of tiles & prints. In 1985 it was designated a National Historic Landmark. The facility that produced the tile, is now known as the Moravian Pottery & Tile Works. It is within walking distance of Fonthill. Handmade tiles are still being madeΒ in a similar fashion to the way Mercer produced them from 1898 to 1930.
