AIPAD, NY

I traveled to New York on Sunday to to see The Association of International of Photography Art Dealers (AIPAD) at the Park Avenue Armory. It was absolutely amazing to see so many wonderful works of art by all of the masters under one roof. There were dealers from all over the world. You could easily spend several days at this event. I took my trusty Olympus EP2 Pen with me to capture some of the event, the Armory building and of course the sites of NY.

Rocky Mountain High

I was in Colorado skiing for a few days last week and of course I had a camera with me. As a matter of fact, I had the new Olympus XZ-1. It is an amazing camera for a “pocket camera”. A couple of features that were important me is the fact that you can shoot in RAW format and it has a f 1.8 lens (it has a built in flash but w/the f 1.8 lens, I probably won’t use it much).  Here are a few examples.

Middle Creek

In the March time frame every year there is a huge waterfowl migration that takes place in Pennsylvania. One of the stopping points is Middle Creek. It is located on a 5,000 acre state habitat on the Lebanon/Lancaster border. The big attractions are the Snow Geese and the Tundra Swans. Counts can be as high as 100K Snow Geese and 10K Swans. I had the opportunity to photograph them a couple of weeks ago and a couple of years ago. The beauty of these creatures in such abundance is absolutely amazing.

Cheap Gas

A little over a week ago I was on a quest to photograph the Snow Geese at Middle Creek, PA. However, a lunch stop in Shartlesville, PA yielded a very unexpected result. I realized we passed the street I was looking for and turned down a small alley. To my surprise, we found this replica old time gas station. I only wish we could find gas prices from this era.

Las Vegas

I was in Vegas last week at a work conference for a few days. I had a brief opportunity to get out and do a little shooting between meetings. Everything was shot with my Olympus PEN (EP2) with a wide angle lens and the Lensbaby Tilt Transformer setup.
