Bhutan

A couple of years ago I visited Bhutan with a few fellow photography friends. It is one of the most beautiful places I have had the pleasure of visiting. It is located in the Eastern Himalayas and is bordered by Tibet & India. Bhutan does not measure their success by gross domestic product, but by a happiness factor and, as such, it is noted as one of the happiest places on our earth. From a photography perspective, I found Bhutan to be one of the most beautiful and colorful places I have ever seen.

Shortly after my trip, I did I did an exhibit of my images at the State Theatre in Easton, PA. The image sizes were 48″ x 36″ and 40″ x 30″. I mention this because I often get asked, can you make large prints with the Olympus system (all images were shot with the E-5). I can tell you, without hesitation, the answer is YES.

The following is a sampling of some of my favorite Images:

For The Love Of It

A couple of weeks ago I was greeted with a surprise when I went to get the mail. My December issue of Outdoor Photographer was in the stack. As usual, I thumbed through the magazine and noticed a couple of images that looked familiar. They were mine. It was an article about me and my photography. Take a look. Also, here is a direct link to the article (click here).

Bhutan…The Land of the Thunder Dragon

In October of 2011, I traveled to the country of Bhutan. This has to be one of the most beautiful places on this earth. During my travel I was fortunate to see some places few tourists have ever seen. On several different occasions I was invited into several peoples homes and allowed to witness some of their private ceremonial events. In November of 2012, I had an exhibit at Fox Optical in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, as part of the InVision photography month. The following is a sampling of some of the images and a few shots from the opening reception.

South Sudan – Independence Anniversary

This week marks the one year anniversary (July 9, 2011) of South Sudan’s independence from Sudan. I had the opportunity to photograph, this once in a lifetime, event. There are many struggles ahead for this new nation. Not to mention the on-going conflict with Sudan (the nation they seceded from). While I was there, I was able to witness some very difficult and challenging situations. However, there was such an incredible sense of HOPE.
