This week marks the one year anniversary (July 9, 2011) of South Sudan’s independence from Sudan. I had the opportunity to photograph, this once in a lifetime, event. There are many struggles ahead for this new nation. Not to mention the on-going conflict with Sudan (the nation they seceded from). While I was there, I was able to witness some very difficult and challenging situations. However, there was such an incredible sense of HOPE.
Frank, It must have been incredible to be there then. I love the images of the children, their faces really reflect the hope.
Denise, Thanks! It really was an amazing experience. Frank
