Black Hill Regional Park

On Saturday I was in Maryland and made a trip to the Black Hill Regional Park outside of Germantown. The weather was very thretening most of the time. However, there were a few times the sun peaked through the thick cloud cover. The wait was worth it!

Bill Goodwin Quartet

A few weeks back I had the privilege of photographing Bill Goodwin, a professional drummer with an extended list of past performances and bands. Goodwin played with his quartet at Miller Symphony Hall- Jazz Cabaret. The quartet performed selections from Goodwin’s new CD “Raise Four”. The evening was great fun and always enjoyable in the “best listening room in the Lehigh Valley”- 3rd floor Jazz Cabaret. For future Jazz Cabaret Series schedule and tickets, Click Here .

Biltmore Estate

A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to be traveling close to Asheville, NC. So I took the opportunity to visit an amazing place, The Biltmore Estate.  The main house and primary attraction was built between 1889 & 1895 by George Washington Vanderbilt. Back in the day it was the largest house in the USA at 178,926 square feet. As a photographer, the only disappointment was, they don’t allow any photography inside. But, there are plenty of images to be had outside and around the many grounds and gardens.

Funk Xpress with Gene Perla

A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of seeing Gene Perla with his newly formed group, Funk Xpress, play upstairs at the Miller Symphony Hall, Jazz Cabaret Series. The performance was highly energizing and extremely entertaining. The band consists of renowned talent that successfully captivated the audience with a variety of music choices. During the evening, there were hints of future Jazz Cabaret performances. Let’s keep our fingers crossed! For future Jazz Cabaret Series schedule and tickets, Click Here .

Near and Far Exhibit – A Photographic Journey from the Lehigh Valley to India (2 of 5)

As a follow up to yesterday’s post, I mentioned I had two gallery exhibits at the State Theatre in Easton, PA. This grouping of images consists of the “Far” portion of the exhibit. This was a compilation of 7 years of work from my travels to India (North, South, East & West). The first area I traveled to was the Kashmir region. My friend John Isaac was the person responsible for making this introduction. I plan to post 3 additional consecutive blog posts including all of the images from this exhibit.

Near and Far Exhibit – A Photographic Journey from the Lehigh Valley to India

I concluded an exhibit at the historic State Theatre in Easton, PA at the beginning of the year. I was fortunate to display in both galleries. Several people who were not able to attend have asked me to share some of the images from the exhibit. The first grouping is a sampling of the images from the “Near” portion of the exhibit in the one gallery. This exhibit consisted of 20 images I have taken over the course of 6 years from my Saturday morning walks in the Lehigh Parkway with my canine companion, Bo. All of the images displayed were taken within an approximate two mile radius. One of the points I wanted to make was that you do not need to travel far to photograph and that there can be extreme diversity within a small area. The following is a small sampling of some of the images displayed. Within the next day or two I will share the “Far” images.

Simon Mulligan: Love Songs

A couple of weeks ago, Valentine’s Day to be exact, I photographed Simon Mulligan and company at the Jazz Cabaret upstairs at the Miller Symphony Hall. The company part consisted of Steven Liu, the Director El Sistema Youth Music Education Program and my very good friend, David Willard on drums. The trio created an evening of absolutely amazing music. You could hear and feel the passion of classically trained pianist, Simon Mulligan. I am already looking forward to his next performance.
