Franklin Hills Vineyard/InVision

A couple of weeks ago I lead a workshop to the Franklin Hills Vineyard on behalf of ArtsQuest for the InVision Photo Festival. We had near perfect conditions and a fantastic group of people. In addition to all of the great photo opportunities, we were able to sample some wonderful wine at the end of the day. All images are shot with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 MkII.

Frank T. Smith Photographer as Seen by PBS

This past fall I was asked to do a presentation on my recent visit to Cuba for the Olympus InVision Photo Festival in Bethlehem , PA. During my preparation for the presentation, PBS39 asked if they could do a story on me because of my connection to the region and as an advocate of InVision. Here is the story.

Playing With Light

As my final post for 2014, I thought it would be appropriate to show some bright, colorful and festive images. Over the last couple of months I have been experimenting with Olympus’s new “Live Composite” mode. I have been extremely impressed. Enjoy and Happy New Year to all of you!

Steve Tobin Studio/InVision Photo Festival

This Sunday there will be an opportunity to photograph in one of the most amazing facilities I have seen. Several weeks ago I photographed some advance promotional shots for ArtsQuest for the upcoming workshop titled “Out of This World – Photograph the Works of Steve Tobin”. This is part of the Olympus InVision Photo Festival. There are indoor and outdoor opportunities. If you are interested in more details click HERE. This will be an amazing experience and one you won’t want to miss.

Jim Thorpe – All A Board

A couple of weeks ago during InVision Photo Festival, I was invited to photograph with a group from Olympus in Jim Thorpe. They made arrangements for us to travel on the Lehigh George Scenic Railway and afterwards, we walked through the beautiful town. We had an amazing time and it was great to meet all of the Olympus photographers who traveled here for the event. We were catching the tail end of the fall foliage and were not disappointed.

About two weeks prior to the trip I received my new Olympus OM-D E-M1 and the day before the trip I received the brand new Zuiko 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO lens. This was the first time I had the two paired together and what a sweet combination it was.

On the last day of the InVision Photo Festival I, along with Dave Rehrig, Ryan Hulvat, Bruce Ward and Rick Holt, had the opportunity to facilitate the photo-shoot at the National Museum of Industrial History. To say we had fun would be an understatement! Please check out the video by clicking HERE .

Film Noir

During the InVision Photo Festival in Bethlehem, PA earlier this month, Dan’s Camera City put on a “Film Noir” workshop. It was incredible FUN! The two Aussies, who ran the program (Shelton & Glynn) made the program a blast and informative. Mike W. was kind enough to allow me to participate the one evening. Here are a few images from the shoot.
