Grand Central Terminal

On behalf of Olympus & Unique Photo, I was privileged to do a presentation this past Friday evening at Unique’s store in Fairfield, NJ on the Grand Central Terminal and lead the photo tour, with an MTA guide, at the terminal on Saturday. This was an amazing experience. We were granted access to ares in the terminal I didn’t even know existed. At one point we were at the highest area in the structure that still allowed a view of the inside of the complex. There were many other vantage points that were amazing beyond belief. I had photographed here in June of 2012 (check out my earlier post from that event).

Rumor has it, that there will be another opportunity on May 30th to do this again. Keep an eye out on Unique Photo’s web site. This one sold out in 24 hours.

Belly of the Beast (post 3 of 3)

This is the final post of the images from the former Bethlehem Steel plant. This post will consist of images of rust or the oxidation process. It is amazing to see the various forms of art when you just look at small segments of this massive complex.

Belly of the Beast (post 2 of 3)

This is a follow up post from the one I did on Thursday. These Bethlehem Steel images are in the “E” Cast Floor within the Blast Furnace. Several images are of the “stoves”. A special thank you to my shooting partner and Bethlehem Steel aficionado Bruce Ward. He was kind enough to help me the the proper nomenclature.

Belly of the Beast (post 1 of 3)

Over a year ago I was afforded another opportunity to enter The Belly of the Beast (aka the former Bethlehem Steel Plant). I am breaking this into 3 parts. The first one consists of images of the inside journey.

Seattle (Post 4 of 4) EMP Museum

This is the final in a series of 4 posts that I started on Monday. As part of my visit to Seattle, I wanted to make an effort to stop by the EMP Museum (Experience Music Project). The building was designed by Frank O. Gehry. He was influenced by the electric guitar and that was the basis for the fundamental design of the building. EMP’s exterior conveys all the energy and fluidity of music. I spent a couple days here and could have easily spent a couple more. One of the interesting aspects of photographing here is the building changes as the sunlight moves.

Seattle (Post 3 of 4) Chihuly Garden & Glass

This is the 3rd in a series of 4 posts that I started on Monday. During my visit to Seattle, I took some extra time to visit and explore the Chihuly Garden and Glass facility located next to the Space Needle. I love all types of glass artwork. This place is the pinnacle of some of the most absolutely amazing glass art I have ever seen. If you are ever in the Seattle area it is an absolute “must see”.

Seattle (Post 2 of 4)

This is a follow up post from yesterday. The images in this post include more of a graphic element, not necessarily conventional shots of Seattle. I also include color and black & white images together.

A Very Cold Day at Trexler Park

Yesterday was an extremely cold and snowy day in the Lehigh Valley. I decided I would take the Olympus TG-3 out for a hike in Trexler Park. The camera held up very well. That’s more than I can say for my fingers. I’m ready for spring!

Philly at Night

Tuesday evening, a couple of Olympus shooters (Mike Boening & Victoria Diaz) invited me to join them for another Philly shoot. However, in comparison to the shoot a few weeks ago, this one took place well after sunset. Of course we picked a time where the temperatures approached the teens again. Not withstanding the temperature, we had a great time and got some fun shots. My images were taken with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 and in most cases I used “Live Composite” or “Live View” modes. You will notice in the one image looking down the river, there were helicopters circling behind the Cira Center. This was a 20+ minute exposure and made for some interesting light effects.

Las Vegas – A Higher Point of View

I was in Las Vegas the better part of this week for a business conference. Of course I took my gear with me. I wanted to try a different point of view and decided I would try for higher ground. The following images were shot from the Eiffel Tower and the High Roller (the world’s tallest observation wheel). All were handheld and shot with the Olympus OM-D E-M1.
