The Beauties of Gurney Street

I was in Cape May, NJ last week for a presentation to the Photography Club of Cape May. Cape May is one of my very favorite places. For me I find it very relaxing and filled with all types of photographic opportunities. If I don’t have my Olympus OM-D E-M1 MkII with me, I always carry the ever trusty and versatile TG-5. The morning before my presentation, I had an hour or two to grab a couple of shots from Gurney Street. The handful of homes on this street are the famous Victorian Stockton Row (circa 1869). Since I was doing a presentation on Architectural photography, I thought is was quite appropriate to grab some shots here. All of the images were shot with the TG-5 and I must admit I am always blown away with the results of this little powerhouse.

Super Blood Moon Eclipse

I was fortunate to be in Cape May NJ the evening (September 27th) of the Super Blood Moon Eclipse. What an amazing experience to witness this rare event from the beach. This was shot between 8:00PM & 1:00AM. The images were taken with the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II and the 40-150mm f2.8 + MC14. This gave me a full frame equivalent of 421 mm.

Sunset Beach Water Tower

A few weeks ago I was in Cape May NJ. We were working our way towards Sunset Beach. The plan was to get some shots of the abandoned water tower. I thought it might be a 30 – 60 minute shoot. It ended up being a couple of hours. I was quite amazed with the place. It sits on a Magnesite plant that was active during WWII. The plant was used to make Magnesite which was used to make steel among other industrial supplies. All of the shots were taken with my Olympus 7-14 f2.8 lens. The location begged to be shot with a wide angle lens and processed in B&W.

Chasing the Light at the Jersey Shore

Last week we did our annual family vacation in Cape May, NJ. The weather was more than cooperative and it was fun spending time with the family. We typically plan one evening at the boardwalk in Wildwood. Unbeknownst to most of the group, I wanted to make an effort to catch the “Golden hour” and the “Blue hour” and, if at all possible, be on the ferris wheel at that time. As luck (and a little bit of planning) had it, I was able to pull it off. All of the images were shot with the Olympus OM-D E-M10 & the 14-42mm lens.

Sand in My Shoes

Last week I was in Cape May & Avalon, photographing by the shore lines. This was the first time I was shooting strictly RAW files with the new Olympus OM-D EM-5.
