Treichlers Bridge

Yesterday we were promised some winter sunshine, which never really materialized. So the the dilemma – what to shoot with all of the overcast sky. Trying to find some building ruins in Treichlers, PA, we stumbled across the base of the Treichlers bridge. The geometry was fun and the sun peaked out for a few minutes. The views are from both sides of the river.

Arctic Chill

I debated with myself on Saturday morning. Do I leave the comfy confines of my warm home or do I brave the elements. I opted to brave the elements and those elements included a zero degree fahrenheit temperature. Lucky for me there was a not a cloud in the sky and there was a fresh blanket of snow on the ground. Would I do it again – You Betcha!

Zen for Primates

A few weeks ago, the group Zen for Primates performed to a sold out audience at the Jazz Cabaret at Miller Symphony Hall in Allentown.Β The music was fun, eclectic and very entertaining. I’m already looking forward to their next event. For upcoming Jazz Cabaret series and ticket, Click Here.

For The Love Of It

A couple of weeks ago I was greeted with a surprise when I went to get the mail. My December issue of Outdoor Photographer was in the stack. As usual, I thumbed through the magazine and noticed a couple of images that looked familiar. They were mine. It was an article about me and my photography. Take a look. Also, here is a direct link to the article (click here).

Fall’s Finale

I shot these images a little over a week ago & visited the same location yesterday. What a difference a week makes. There were absolutely no leaves left. Mother nature can be quick and abrupt.

Jim Thorpe – All A Board

A couple of weeks ago during InVision Photo Festival, I was invited to photograph with a group from Olympus in Jim Thorpe. They made arrangements for us to travel on the Lehigh George Scenic Railway and afterwards, we walked through the beautiful town. We had an amazing time and it was great to meet all of the Olympus photographers who traveled here for the event. We were catching the tail end of the fall foliage and were not disappointed.

About two weeks prior to the trip I received my new Olympus OM-D E-M1 and the day before the trip I received the brand new Zuiko 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO lens. This was the first time I had the two paired together and what a sweet combination it was.

Jazz Cabaret – Lynnie Godfrey

A couple of weeks ago, I had the wonderful opportunity to hear and photograph a performer I had never seen perform before. Her name is Lynnie Godfrey and what a joy it was. Her voice took total command of the sold out crowd at the Jazz Cabaret at Miller Symphony Hall. If this woman doesn’t move you, you’re probably not breathing. When the opportunity presents itself again, this an absolute must see. For upcoming Jazz Cabaret Series and tickets Click Here.

PDN Photo Plus Expo 2013

Every year I look forward to this event. To see and learn about all new things occurring in the photographic world. This year was no exception. It was great to catch up with all the folks from my favorite booth, Olympus.Β I also enjoy the opportunity to shoot all the colors and diversity of New York.

Pennhurst State School and Hospital (1 of 2)

In keeping with the Halloween theme for this time of the year, I thought now would be a good time to post this. During the summer, I had the opportunity to visit Pennhurst State School & Hospital,Β originally known as the Eastern Pennsylvania State Institution for the Feeble-Minded and EpilepticΒ positioned on the border between Chester County and Montgomery County in Pennsylvania.Β In 1903, the Pennsylvania Legislature authorized the creation of the institution and a commission was organized to take into consideration the number and status of the feeble-mindedΒ and epilepticΒ persons in the state and determine a placement for construction to care for these residents.Β From 1903 to 1908 the first buildings were constructed.Β On November 23, 1908, “Patient number 1” was admitted to the hospital. Within four years of operation, Pennhurst was already overcrowded. I can only imagine what it must have been like to arrive at this place. I was able to gain access through the efforts of Denise Ippolito, a very talented photographer. Here is a link to her website.

This blog will consist of two posts. The first one is of the general campus and the next one will be the Administrative building.
