This Sunday there will be an opportunity to photograph in one of the most amazing facilities I have seen. Several weeks ago I photographed some advance promotional shots for ArtsQuest for the upcoming workshop titled “Out of This World – Photograph the Works of Steve Tobin”. Two weekends ago I had the honor of leading a workshop in Jim Thorpe, PA for Dan’s Camera that was sponsored by Olympus. The event was sold out, the group was fantastic and we were able to experience some amazing photographic opportunities. We had private access to the “Old Jail”, our own private rail car and mother nature treated us to some of the best fall colors I have ever seen.
Last week I photographed the historic Haines Mill in South Whitehall Township, PA. The original mill was built around 1760 and reconstructed in 1909 after a fire gutted the interior. The mill was operated until 1956. Today it is operated by the Lehigh County Historical Society. The day we photographed the mill we were treated with a bonus. A fellow by the name of Ken Haines introduced himself and explained he was the great grandson of the original Haines operator. He was kind enough to show us around the mill and some of the ajoining property.
Since it’s raining this morning, I though I would post these shots from last week. What do you get when you mix water droplets, a glass top table and colorful reflections – Fire Water. Because it was raining, I shot all of the images with the Olympus TG-3.
Yesterday I had the pleasure to attend the 2nd annual TEDx Lehigh River presentation. TEDx Lehigh River is an independently organized TED event that brings together a diverse group of speakers and audience members to participate in a program of engaging and thought-provoking presentations and conversation. The first TEDx Lehigh River was held in April 2013 with the Allentown Symphony Association, Lehigh University, and PBS39 as the founding partners. I had the honor of being one of the speakers at last year’s event. This year’s speakers include Kevin Bahler, Rick Boulay, M.D., Robert M. Gordon, Zack Gray, Tim Lytle, Rebecca Einstein Schorr, Bryan Tuk, Katy C Worriloow. The following are a few snaps from the event.

I made my annual trek to the Allentown Fair again a couple of weeks ago. I decided I would do two posts. One in B&W and one in color. Here is the B&W.
On Friday night, August 15th I was once again given the pleasure of capturing the evening through photography at the Jazz Upstairs. Hot Bijouxx performed an energetic mélange of Prohibition-era jazz, brilliantly combining story telling with the music. The 4 piece jazz band was complimented by the vocals of Najwa Parkins. Another great night of great jazz on the 3rd floor of Miller Symphony.
I visited the Troxell-Steckel house located in Whitehall Township, PA. It is a 2 1/2 story house and farm built in 1756. The house and property is now owned by the Lehigh County Historical Society.
Testing out the Olympus TG-3 in macro mode this morning. This thing is absolutely amazing.
