Olympus InVision Photo Festival (part 1 of 2)

Every November, ArtsQuest puts on the Olympus Invision Photo Festival. The event is focused 100% around photography. There are presentations, social activities, and workshops throughout the weekend event. Here are a few images from the event:

Jim Thorpe Photo Expedition 2015

This past weekend we had another sell out Dan’s Camera City workshop/photoshoot sponsored by Olympus in beautiful Jim Thorpe, PA. Mother Nature started us off with a little bit of rain in the morning. But she cooperated as the day went on. We had a great group of very creative photographers on the excursion. We had private access to the Old Jail, our own train car and amazing opportunities in the town. All-in-all we had a great day and great fun! All my images below were shot with the Olympus OM-D E-M1.

Saucon Valley Conservancy 2015

A few weeks ago, we had the annual SVC barn/workshop/photoshoot in Hellertown, PA. We had a great group of photographers and some wonderful young docents/models. We were also granted access to some new locations with some amazing artifacts.

Glasbern Inn

Earlier this week I did a private workshop for about 3 dozen participants at the Glasbern Inn located in Fogelsville, PA. The place is gorgeous and they raise, grow and prepare most of their food on-site. I had been here in the past. But never took the time to meander around the grounds. They have ponds, pools, green houses, walking trails and beautiful architectural structures. I look forward to revisiting this place.

Minneapolis Photo Walk

This past weekend I was delighted to do a presentation and a photo-walk for National Camera Exchange and Olympus in the Minneapolis area. I had never been there before and I can tell you it is a beautiful area. The people and the city were amazing. A special thank you to Ashley Ondricek who organized both events. I’m looking forward to visiting again.

Grand Central Terminal

On behalf of Olympus & Unique Photo, I was privileged to do a presentation this past Friday evening at Unique’s store in Fairfield, NJ on the Grand Central Terminal and lead the photo tour, with an MTA guide, at the terminal on Saturday. This was an amazing experience. We were granted access to ares in the terminal I didn’t even know existed. At one point we were at the highest area in the structure that still allowed a view of the inside of the complex. There were many other vantage points that were amazing beyond belief. I had photographed here in June of 2012 (check out my earlier post from that event).

Rumor has it, that there will be another opportunity on May 30th to do this again. Keep an eye out on Unique Photo’s web site. This one sold out in 24 hours.

Seattle (Post 4 of 4) EMP Museum

This is the final in a series of 4 posts that I started on Monday. As part of my visit to Seattle, I wanted to make an effort to stop by the EMP Museum (Experience Music Project). The building was designed by Frank O. Gehry. He was influenced by the electric guitar and that was the basis for the fundamental design of the building. EMP’s exterior conveys all the energy and fluidity of music. I spent a couple days here and could have easily spent a couple more. One of the interesting aspects of photographing here is the building changes as the sunlight moves.

Seattle (Post 3 of 4) Chihuly Garden & Glass

This is the 3rd in a series of 4 posts that I started on Monday. During my visit to Seattle, I took some extra time to visit and explore the Chihuly Garden and Glass facility located next to the Space Needle. I love all types of glass artwork. This place is the pinnacle of some of the most absolutely amazing glass art I have ever seen. If you are ever in the Seattle area it is an absolute “must see”.

Seattle (Post 2 of 4)

This is a follow up post from yesterday. The images in this post include more of a graphic element, not necessarily conventional shots of Seattle. I also include color and black & white images together.

Seattle (Post 1 of 4)

This past fall I had the opportunity to do a couple of workshops for Glazer’s Camera and Amazon in Seattle, Washington on behalf of Olympus. I had not been there in 20+ years. I must say, I was more than impressed. The people were friendly, the weather was great and the environment, in general, was fantastic. I extended my stay by a couple of days and was glad I did. I’m looking forward to going back. I am going to break the Seattle posts into four (General, Graphic, Chihuly & EMP). This first post will be general overviews and landscapes.
