My friend and fellow photographer, Dave Rehrig obtained an image, while visiting Penn State which, we believe, was taken by Walker Evans. The scene was taken in South Bethlehem, PA. However, it wasn’t signed or noted anywhere. We both went online and couldn’t verify the photographer. In any event, we attempted to duplicate the scene and the first of the following images is my attempt at a modern day view of this place. While we were snooping around, I found a few other perspectives I enjoyed.
I try to make a point to get out and shoot this once a year event. It is one of the country’s largest Antique & Classic car shows located in Macungie, PA. Each year I attend I find new and different ways to shoot the event. I don’t profess to know a lot about the cars but I do enjoy trying to come up with new compositions.
Last month I photographed in the iconic Grand Central Terminal (aka Grand Central Station) in New York. I spent about 5 hours here and could have easialy spent another 5+ hours. This location screams for a fisheye lens. And as you can see, most of my images where produced with one.

I spent the 4th of July at SteelStacks in Bethlehem, PA. It is an incredible venue for so many things. Especially photography.
This week marks the one year anniversary (July 9, 2011) of South Sudan’s independence from Sudan. I had the opportunity to photograph, this once in a lifetime, event. There are many struggles ahead for this new nation. Not to mention the on-going conflict with Sudan (the nation they seceded from). While I was there, I was able to witness some very difficult and challenging situations. However, there was such an incredible sense of HOPE.
A couple of weeks ago I was invited to lead the first annual Saucon Valley Conservancy Barn Photo Workshop. We had a better than expected turnout and a great group of people. The event was further enhanced by all the volunteers and models. A special thanks to my friend Dave Willard who arranged the day! This workshop was a precursor to their fundraiser, the 6th Annual Barn Tour. The Tour is scheduled for Saturday, September 15, 2012. Last week I was in Cape May & Avalon, photographing by the shore lines. This was the first time I was shooting strictly RAW files with the new Olympus OM-D EM-5. I had to wait for Adobe to get the updated profiles. I must say, the camera far exceeded my expectations. Here are a few of the processed images . I’ll let you be the judge.
A week and a half ago I traveled to the Lonaconing Silk Mill in Lonaconing, Maryland (this is about as far west as you can go in Maryland). I traveled with a photography group led by a very talented photographer, Denise Ippolito. I had seen some images in the past and my hopes were that the mill would still have some equipment in place. Well, I can tell you my expectations were more than met. The 4+ hour drive was more than worth it. Nature’s elements are starting to penetrate the building. The gentleman who owns the facility, Herb, is trying to figure out a way to save the structure. The last time it was in operation was 1957.
I was in Jim Thorpe last Saturday exploring some new treasures. I have been there several times in the past. But, I was introduced to some new locations this time. All of the following images were taken with the new Olympus OM-D EM-5. Let me say, this is one amazing piece of equipment! I was expecting a lot and I can tell you, it surpassed all of my expectations.
